My mother had my name picked out long before I was born--even before she met my father! It is based on my mother's sister and my great grandmother's names, Ruth Jean, and Nell.
Jeanell means "gift from God" and "friend." Innerarity is from Scotland and used to be Inveraraity, which means "mouth of the creek of Arity."
My family called me Jeanie from birth and never meant to call me by my legal name, Jeanell. I changed to being called by my legal name in sixth grade. My family still calls me Jeanie, but it sounds very strange from anyone else.
