Heba is an Arabic name my parents gave me. I stole Thiele, which is of German origin, from my partner. I am neither Arab nor German.
Heba means "gift" or "blessing". Google tells me Thiele is something akin to "ruler", as of local land.
I used to say my name was pronounced "like hiccup." A librarian didn't like that comparison because it was unpleasant, and asked what my name meant. When I told them it was "gift," they said that was perfect - that's how they would remember the short-I pronunciation. I'm a librarian now.
